Privacy

Last updated: November 4, 2026. This is also the date this policy takes effect.

Resonant Music Inc., a Delaware corporation, runs the Resonant app and resonantmusic.co. In this policy "we" means Resonant Music Inc. and "you" means you. It explains what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. Resonant is offered in the United States.

At a glance

  • You sign in with Google, which gives us your name, email address and profile picture.
  • We collect what you play, watch, search and tap in the app, information about your device, and your approximate location from your IP address.
  • Your profile, liked tracks, follows, public playlists, Pulses, stories and comments are public.
  • Ads are shown through Google AdMob. You can turn personalized ads off, and under 18 ads are contextual only.
  • We do not sell personal information for money. We do share ad data with Google AdMob for personalized ads.
  • Records of what you tap and are shown are kept for up to 12 months. What you type in search is kept without any link to you. Plays are kept for artist payouts, and unlinked from you when you delete your account.
  • You can delete your account at any time, and ask us for a copy of your information.

What we collect

  • Information you give us. Your birth date and gender when you sign up. Your profile, such as your handle, display name, bio and pictures. What you post and upload, such as tracks, releases, Pulses and stories. Your playlists, likes, follows, comments and reactions, and the people you block and the reports you make.
  • Information collected automatically. What you play, watch, search for and tap in the app, what we show you, and the ads you see. Information about your device and the app, such as the model, operating system, app version, identifiers and time zone. Your approximate location (country, region and city) from your IP address.
  • Information from others. When you sign in with Google, the only way to sign in, Google gives us your name, email address, profile picture and Google account identifier.

From this we work out an age range, a recommendation profile and listening statistics. The app also keeps some information on your device so it works, such as your sign-in and a random device identifier that is reset when you delete your account. It is not an advertising identifier.

The only permission the app asks for is access to your photo library, so you can choose images and videos to upload.

We do not collect payout, tax or bank details today. When artist payouts launch, we will update this policy before we collect them.

How we use it

  • To run Resonant: sign you in, show your profile and posts, play what you choose.
  • To refuse anyone under 13: your birth date is checked at sign-up.
  • To pay and inform artists: payouts are counted from plays, and artists see statistics about their audience. Your birth date is never shown to anyone.
  • To recommend music and videos.
  • To show ads.
  • To keep Resonant safe: handle reports, enforce blocks, prevent abuse, settle copyright disputes.
  • To fix and improve the app: find bugs, measure speed, see how features are used, and improve search from what people type, without any link to who typed it.

Recommendations

What we suggest to you is personalized. We build a recommendation profile from what you play, the search results you choose and what you interact with, and use it to choose music, Pulses and artists to show you. We also analyze how tracks sound, which is about the music, not you. Your recommendation profile is deleted with your account.

Ads

Resonant shows ads through Google AdMob. Personalized ads use what Google knows about your activity in other apps and websites; contextual ads do not. Google receives your IP address and device information whenever it shows you an ad.

  • On iPhone, ads are personalized only if you allow tracking when the app asks. You can change this in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
  • On Android, ads are personalized unless you turn on Do not sell or share my personal information in the app's main menu.
  • Under 18, ads are contextual only, and you are not asked.

What other people can see

  • Public: your profile, liked tracks, the artists you follow, your public playlists, Pulses, and your comments and reactions. Stories are public for 24 hours.
  • Private if you choose: a private playlist is not shown to other people.
  • Only you: your email address, birth date and recent searches.
  • Blocking: someone you block cannot see you, and is not told.
  • Reports: only our moderators see them.

Artists see totals about their audience: gender and age, only once they have at least 100 listeners, and where listeners are, only as totals. They also see their top fans by profile name, with plays and listening time, never with a city or region.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers that host and secure our servers, run our database and sign-in, store and process media, and provide analytics and app performance. They may use your information only to provide their service to us, and must protect it as we do.
  • Google, for sign-in and for the ads we show through AdMob.
  • Other people on Resonant, as described above.
  • For legal and safety reasons, when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people or Resonant.
  • In a business transfer: if Resonant is merged or sold, your information may pass to the new owner.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do share it with Google AdMob for personalized ads (see Notice for California residents). Our service providers process your information in the United States.

Keeping and deleting it

We keep information as long as your account is open, or as long as we need it for the reasons above, or to meet legal obligations. Some periods are fixed:

  • Activity such as interactions, what you were shown and the search results you chose: up to 12 months.
  • What you type in search: stored separately, without your account or device, so it cannot be traced back to your account. Kept for up to 12 months.
  • Plays: kept for artist payouts, and unlinked from you when you delete your account.
  • Safety reports: up to 3 years. Copyright records for uploaded tracks: 3 years after the track comes down.
  • Server logs: up to 30 days.

You can delete your account at any time. Delete account explains how, what is deleted and what is kept. When you delete it, the app's device identifier is reset, you are signed out and Resonant's access to your Google account is revoked. You can also email us to get a copy of your information, or to correct it.

Children

You must be at least 13 to use Resonant. Sign-up asks for your birth date and refuses anyone under 13, and the device then remembers that refusal. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it.

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect.

Selling and sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. We share it with Google AdMob, an advertising network, for cross-context behavioral advertising, which the CCPA calls "sharing". In the past 12 months the only information shared this way is ad data from the ads in our app: device and advertising identifiers, IP address and device information. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know is under 18.

Sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as California law defines it. City-level location is not precise geolocation.

Your rights. You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Delete it.
  • Correct it if it is wrong.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of it.
  • Limit our use of your sensitive personal information. We do not collect any.
  • Not be treated differently for using any of these rights.

How to use them.

Before we act on an emailed request, we check that it comes from you: we ask you to sign in with the Google account on your Resonant account, or to confirm from that account's email address. Someone else can make a request for you with your written permission; we may check with you directly first. If we turn down your request, you can reply and ask us to reconsider.

Global Privacy Control: this website has nothing to sell or share, so there is nothing for the signal to turn off. In the app, use the settings above.
