Community Guidelines
Last updated: November 4, 2026. This is also the date these guidelines take effect.
Resonant is for artists and the people who love their music. These guidelines say what you can and cannot post or do on Resonant. They are part of our Terms, and they apply to everything on Resonant: tracks, releases, cover art, Pulses, stories, playlists, comments, reactions and profiles.
At a glance
- We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.
- No nudity or sexual content. Sexual content involving minors is reported to the authorities.
- No harassment, hate, threats, scams or impersonation.
- Only upload what you have the rights to, and never fake plays, likes or follows.
- Report content and users from their menu in the app, and block anyone.
- We remove what breaks these rules and can terminate the account. If you think we got it wrong, email us.
Zero tolerance
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Objectionable content is nudity and sexual content, anything that sexualizes minors, harassment and bullying, hate, violence and threats, encouraging self-harm, and illegal goods and activity. When we find it, we remove it and terminate the account that posted it.
The other rules here, from spam to misleading content, matter too. If you break them, we remove the content and, depending on what happened, suspend or terminate the account.
Nudity and sexual content
Do not post nudity, sexual acts or sexually explicit material, in images, video, cover art or text. Do not post content meant to arouse, or offer or ask for sexual services. Lyrics about love and sex in a track are fine; showing it is not.
Child safety
We have zero tolerance for any content that sexualizes minors or puts them at risk, including drawn, edited or AI-made images. Do not contact a minor for sexual purposes or try to groom one. We remove this content, terminate the account, keep the evidence and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US law requires.
Harassment and bullying
Do not insult, demean, shame or pile on anyone, in comments, reactions, posts or profiles. Do not keep contacting someone who has made clear they do not want it, or get around a block. Disagreeing about music is fine; attacking the person is not.
Hate
Do not attack or demean people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious illness or age. That includes slurs, stereotypes, and symbols or praise of hate groups.
Violence and threats
Do not threaten anyone, encourage violence, or praise or support violent attacks or terrorist groups. Do not post graphic violence or gore meant to shock. Violence in an artistic or fictional setting, such as a story in a song, is not a threat.
Self-harm
Do not encourage, instruct or glorify suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. Talking about your own struggles, or about recovery, is allowed. If someone is in danger, contact emergency services. In the US you can call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Illegal goods and activity
Do not use Resonant to sell, buy or promote illegal drugs, weapons, or other illegal goods or services, or to plan or encourage a crime.
Spam and scams
Do not post the same thing over and over, flood comments, or post links and messages meant to sell to people who did not ask. Do not trick people out of money, accounts or personal information, and do not post malware.
Impersonation
Do not pretend to be another person, artist, band or organization, in your name, handle, picture or posts. Do not upload music or video that uses an AI-made imitation of a real person's voice or likeness without their consent. Parody and fan accounts are fine if they make clear they are not the real thing.
Fake plays and follows
Plays decide what people are recommended, and will decide what artists are paid, so they must be real. Do not inflate plays, likes, follows or comments, whether with bots, scripts, paid services, or by swapping plays with other people. Do not run accounts whose only purpose is to boost someone. When we find fake activity, we remove it and can terminate the accounts involved, including the account of an artist who benefits from it.
Copyright
Only upload what you have the right to share. A track you upload must be your own recording, or one you control, and any samples, interpolations or covers in it must be cleared. Do not upload other people's music, videos or artwork without permission. We remove infringing content and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. To report an infringement, see our Copyright Policy.
Privacy
Do not post anyone's personal information, such as a home address, phone number, email address or private documents, without their permission. Do not post images or video of people who have not agreed to appear in them, and never of anyone in a private moment.
Misleading content
Do not post content meant to mislead people in a way that could cause real harm, such as false health claims or false information about elections. Do not mislead people about who made a track, or use false titles, tags or credits to get it in front of more listeners.
How to report
- Content and users: open the menu on a profile, artist, release, track, Pulse, story, playlist or comment and choose Report. Pick the reason that fits best: spam, harassment, hate, sexual content, violence, child safety or other. Only our moderators see reports, and the person you report is not told who reported them.
- Blocking: you can block a person from their page. Neither of you then sees the other's content, you stop following each other, and they are not told.
- Copyright: email us, as described in our Copyright Policy.
- Anything else: email support@resonantmusic.co.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services first.
What we do
Our moderators review reports promptly. Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may:
- Remove the content.
- Suspend the account for a period.
- Terminate the account. Anyone whose account we terminate may not create another.
For objectionable content and abusive behavior, we remove the content and terminate the account. When the law requires it, or someone's safety is at risk, we tell the authorities.
Asking us to review a decision
If you think we removed your content or acted on your account by mistake, email support@resonantmusic.co from the email address on your account. Tell us what was removed or what happened, and why you think it was a mistake. A person will look at it again and reply. If we got it wrong, we put the content back or restore the account.
